What is TEOTWAWKI ?
The End Of The World As We Know It -
basically an acronym for " when everything goes to hell in a handbasket".
Different people have different interpretations and different scenarios to consider.
The Californian might call California sliding into the sea after a major earthquake -
TEOTWAWKI
The stockbroker who looses all his money in a crack might in his greediness call it -
TEOTWAWKI
The Native American has already been there.
I myself worry about the russians deciding to cross our mutual border, I can't really see myself
speaking russian and learning to like borscht : ( - I'll
take their vodka though.
TEOTWAWKI,
"never happen" some say, others feel it's hiding just 'round the corner.
Who's right and who's wrong is hard to tell - so why gamble?
Survival in such a scenario is no trivial pursuit..no pun intended.
"Wont happen here" they say -
the govt. would never allow it...hah!.. they'll have no say in the matter.
Mind experiment -
US Govt. discovers that a major earthquake ( 8 + on the richter scale ) will hit California
in the next 72 hours - what do they do? Tell everyone on the six o'clock news and cause a major
panic resulting in deaths, looting and general mayhem ( not to mention slim reelection chances) ?
Or just evacuate vital personnel and equipment?
What do they do ?
( Think about it - if the answer doesn't please you - start preparations)
My govt. is actively downsizing our armed forces, and in doing so weakening our defenses.
And we are a rich country compared to some.
TEOTWAWKI can happen anywhere at any time.
How could this come about?
An EMP ( Electro Magnetic Pulse ) bomb detonated on Wall Street,
another outside the Hong Kong stock exchange, combined with a malevolent
virus in the US civilian airtraffic control systems ( which control large amounts
of US DoD flights ), would cause chaos on an unprecedented scale.
Thermo nuclear exchange -
too many scenarios to mention all, although consider that Pakistan and India, who are not at all good
buddies, and fighting sporadically over the Kashmir area, both have nukes.
Or what about Russia's missing 'suitcase' nukes? -
imagine the Hamas / Islamic Jihad getting hold of one of those - Israel has nukes as well.
A lot of the former Soviet republics ( many of them Islamic republics ) have nukes .
Argentina has a nuclear program.
North Korea is trying hard to get nukes - China has lots.
Yeltsin almost launched nuclear warheads ( he admitted opening the launch code suitcase )
after Norwegian researchers launched a rocket over Norway ( carrying weather measurement equipment )
because some moron in the russian system had forgotten to pass on the message that it was civilian, which they had been notified
of months in advance. ( The rocket had an i.r. signature similar to submarine launched nuclear missiles ).
Polar ice caps melting -
Global warming - happening right now.
Will speed up rapidly if the atmosphere heats up a coupl'a degrees.
Earthquakes.
And you have a wide assortment of meteorites, comets, plutonium driven satellites, virii etc.
So there you have it - if you feel less than safe, start preparing.
